This is a lovely and easy recipe for Olive Houmous. It is perfect to keep in the fridge to snack on or as part of a healthy lunch. It can be made in advance, is gluten free and vegan. Can we add that this recipe can be made quicker than it will take you to decide if ‘houmous’ should be spelt… hummus, houmous or humous!
Here is what you will need;
- 15 oz (400 g) black or green pitted olives (and a few to garnish)
- a 15 oz (400 g) can chickpeas
- 2–3 Tbs tahini
- 3 Tbs olive oil plus more for garnish
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
- a pinch of salt
- 1 garlic clove (although this is optional)
Method for making your Olive Houmous
Drain the chickpeas and check that the olives are pitted. Blitz all the ingredients in a food processor for a few seconds and hey presto…..olive hummus. It couldn’t be easier. You can alter the water added to adjust the consistency to your liking. Scatter a few slices of olive to garnish and serve on toast or with veggie sticks. Enjoy.
